Advanced People Search is a part of PeopleFinders, a well-known data broker that collects and shares personal information online. This includes names, phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses, known relatives, and even criminal records. The site claims to have over two billion records and says it can help you reconnect with someone from your past or learn more about a new acquaintance. But in the wrong hands, this information can also be misused by scammers, stalkers, or identity thieves. If you’re concerned about your privacy, here’s how you can protect yourself by removing your data from Advanced People Search

  1. Go to peoplefinders.com in your browser

  2. Using the search function, locate your information and copy the URL of that page.

  3. Return to the homepage and scroll to the bottom, and select Do Not Sell My Personal Information

  4. On the new window, enter the URL copied in step 2 as well as your email address and click “Send Request.”

  5. Navigate to your email and select the link in the confirmation email sent to you. Results typically occur in 48 hours.
