BackgroundCheckers is a data broker that offers detailed personal information reports on individuals across the United States. The site pulls data from over 12 billion public records, collected from thousands of sources. The reports may include a wide range of personal details such as background checks, criminal and arrest records, address and contact histories, marriage status, names of relatives, court records, and even social media or dating profiles. Given the depth of information available, having your data on BackgroundCheckers can pose a risk to your privacy. If you're concerned, it's worth considering their opt-out process to have your information removed.


  1. Navigate to BackgroundCheckers.net

  2. Scroll down and select Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Info

  3. In the next window, enter your first and last name and select the state in which you live. Then press search

  4. Find the listing with your info and click on the green arrow next to it

  5. Enter the information required, fill out the CAPTCHA, and hit Submit

  6. Check your email inbox for a confirmation email. Open it and click the link saying Click to Remove your information

  7. After clicking the link a notification will appear informing you ythat our information has been removed
