Background Check Gateway is a data broker that shares a wide range of personal information online. When you visit the site, you're automatically redirected to US Search, which manages its data. This means that to remove your information from Background Check Gateway, you’ll need to go through the opt-out process for US Search. Unlike many other data brokers, US Search requires you to submit your opt-out request by mail or fax. Once your request is received, your personal information should be removed from the site within about 48 hours. If you’re concerned about your privacy, completing this process is a key step in limiting your online exposure.

  1. Search for your listing on backgroundcheckgateway.com

  2. Print the page your listing is on

  3. Send them your listing, the cover sheet, and a copy of your state-issued ID. (Be sure to block out your picture, signature, and ID number.) Fax or mail your opt-out request to US Search:[table id=18 /]

  4. Use the following template for your cover letter in your opt-out request:

  5. “As per your privacy policy, please remove my listing from DateCheck, Intelius, iSearch, LookupAnyone, PeopleLookUp, PhonesBook, PublicRecords, Spock, US Search, ZabaSearch, Background Check Gateway, and all other affiliated people search sites. Thank you for your help with this personal security issue.-[Your Name]”

  6. Your information should be removed within 14 days of them receiving your request
